Who is Jordan Cowan?
Jordan Cowan trained as a competitive ice dancer for Team USA over a decade, finishing his career in 7th at the US Figure Skating Championships. He then crossed over into professional ballroom dancing, where he saw how dancers with cameras were revolutionizing the dance world in television and film.
Jordan eventually brought this idea to the ice, and created ‘On Ice Perspectives’, a series dedicated to bringing online audiences closer than ever to skating. Jordan uses every tool at his disposal to create skating videos that are exciting, engaging, and viewed by millions. In 2022, On Ice Perspectives has a combined audience of 1.5 million followers across its social media channels. Through Jordan’s experience as a world-class skater, his undying passion for cinematography, and his exceptional understanding of social media networking, Jordan has created a new way for people to discover and stay engaged by today’s figure skaters. More importantly, On Ice Perspectives has brought audiences back to watching, and thinking about figure skating year-round, and its inspired a new generation of skaters who watch skating online to watch and learn from their heroes in near-real-time. And by being crowd-funded by donations on his Patreon channel, Jordan has been able to affordably showcase up-and-coming skaters very early in their careers.
Professional Work:
Jordan Cowan has filmed four seasons of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, as their first-ever live broadcast skating camera operator, watched by a weekly live audience of over 6 million viewers in the UK. That same year, Jordan adapted his role as a live-broadcast skating camera operator to CBC’s ‘Battle of the Blades’.
